Some people hate squirrels and think they’re nasty little rodents, but when you see a wonderful photo like this, submitted for critique by Juan Ayala, how can you not think that they are just adorable!

Juan did a FANTASTIC job with this photo. The composition is SPOT ON, even though the squirrel is technically centered in the photo.

This is one of those cases where Juan broke one of the “rules” of composition, and in doing so created a winning photo!

In addition to the framing of the shot, the lighting on the squirrel is phenomenal, and Juan’s exposure settings are dead on too. (ISO 640, f6.3 and 1/250 with a Nikon D330 and 55-200mm lens zoomed to 140mm)

Now it could seem like he needs to brighten up this image, as you have some shadowing in the details in the squirrel, but the shadow areas are in non-critical areas, so I think Juan did a bang up job with this shot.

What do you think about Juan’s photo? Let us know in the comments!
